Thank You for Supporting the Children

Thank you so much for supporting the children we work with during these challenging times. Since the pandemic started, the lockdowns around the world have had a serious impact on the economy, pushing more people into poverty. Our partner organisations have responded in various ways, including setting up new food programmes. Two of these programmes, run by The Future Factory and ORT SA CAPE, both in South Africa, are continuing to this day. Your donations have been a big help in getting food to children and families from disadvantaged communities.

Anne, the founder of The Future Factory said, "Our communities truly appreciate your support and a huge thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to make a difference."

The Future Factory has been helping with food programmes, where children and families receive warm cooked food, in 18 disadvantaged communities around Cape Town. Over the past months, they have added four more areas, where they are assisting those who need help with food.

ORT SA CAPE usually focuses on educational programmes but during the lockdown, it saw that the need for food assistance was a growing and urgent problem. It started a food programme, alongside running its education programmes. and is regularly delivering food parcels to 140 families in need.

Bev the Co-CEO at ORT SA CAPE wrote, "Thank you to CHW for their continued support of the work that we do. Your assistance over this challenging year has helped us reach so many more beneficiaries."

Thank you so much for supporting programmes like this, which help children with such a basic, vital need, like food.

The lockdowns have brought other challenges too. In some places, schools and education centres have been allowed to reopen again, but there have been new rules to follow. At Newness School in Ghana, new desks and chairs were needed. Even before the pandemic started, this had been necessary, as the number of children attending the school had increased. The children would crowd around the tables and desks. This is no longer allowed and it became urgent for the school to have the new desks and chairs to be able to set up their classrooms safely. With thanks to CHW's supporters, this was possible. The children have now returned to school. The director of Newness, Derrick, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed.

All of us at CHW, and at our partner organisations, are so grateful to you for your continued help, during this very challenging time.

If you would like to support the children further through GlobalGiving, then the Little By Little challenge is taking place from 8 to 12 March. During that time, donations of up to £36 (50 USD) will be matched by 50%. If you would like to take part and make a difference for the children, you can do so by donating to our page for ORT SA CAPE during the campaign: https://www.globalgiving.org/21813  You will be supporting the children in Cape Town with food and education.

Thank you so much for all the support you have already given and for making an impact for disadvantaged children.
