The Impact of NFTE New England Volunteers

Every new classroom that NFTE is able to reach means that 25 more young people will be given access to life changing entrepreneurship training. One aspect of NFTE’s program that separates our program from traditional classroom experiences is the presence of volunteers. By bringing local entrepreneurs and seasoned business professionals into the classroom, students can see firsthand the value of learning an entrepreneurial mindset.  These mentors help youth think innovatively about business problems as they move through NFTE’s core program of creating and executing a business plan for themselves.

Thanks to the incredible donations to NFTE on the GlobalGiving platform, NFTE New England was able to fund several new volunteer training programs. On September 20th we gained several dozen new volunteers through a training session at the Boston headquarters of our corporate partner EY. A few weeks later, on October 24th, we held a similar orientation at the offices of another of our New England partners, SAP America. You can see some of their employees receiving the classroom training in the photo above. One of our new volunteers was also nominated for NFTE’s organization-wide 2014 Lowell B. Mason Volunteer of the Year Award! Nancy Zucccarini, the Chief of Staff at Hollister Staffing, was nominated based on her work with NFTE New England students throughout the year. Her dedication to the underserved youth of New England made her a finalist for the award. We can’t thank her, and our supporters on GlobalGiving, enough for their commitment.
