Education, Their Only Hope for a Better Future

Summary

Poverty prevents millions of Nigerian youth from access to education. Yet education is vital and plays a significant role in breaking the cycle of generational poverty by increasing employment and income opportunities, in addition to reducing dependence on low paying menial jobs. This college scholarship and educational support program opens doors for promising youth from less privileged backgrounds, like John in the photograph above, who is now a college graduate.

Challenge

Education is a critical factor in human, economic and social development in any nation. Sadly, after the free Government primary and high school education, many promising students from less privileged backgrounds will never realize their dream of achieving a college education unless aid comes in the form of scholarship opportunities.

Solution

Our goal is to provide college scholarships and educational support to 20 indigent students this year to help reduce the high school drop-out rates and rising poverty resulting from limited educational opportunities by giving underprivileged youth the opportunity to optimize the immense potential inherent within them. This program will provide 1-year college scholarship, continuous mentoring and personal development training to students from low-income families to help them through college.

Long-Term Impact

The return on our investment in the education of underprivileged youth is far-reaching extending beyond them to their families, society and to the nation. Providing educational support and college scholarships for youth from less privileged backgrounds, will increase their prospects for a prosperous future, reduce poverty, promote stability, national growth and development.
