On the 15th June we passed a major milestone! After 6 months of intensive teacher training twice a week, we have finally completed this important element of the ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) curriculum development process.
In the final 6 weeks, teachers demonstrated how far they had come, making dynamic presentations on such critical topics as climate change, potable water, food insecurity, gender equality and human rights. Now they are working on writing up their lessons plans for 3rd-11th grade curriculum, which will be intensively reviewed in August. These lesson plans will eventually fuel students' ESD learning in anticipation of the new school year in 2023.
We couldn't be prouder of our teachers and their tireless dedication to developing Hero School's innovative curriculum. Thanks to them, we will be better able to transform the lives of young Comapalans and their community. Of course we couldn't have got here without your generous support! Thank you for helping Long Way Home to realize our mission in changing Guatemala for the better through Education for Sustainable Development!
