This project will support poor blind beggars in Nnewi, Anambra State, in order to help them feed and maintain a healthy life. Loss of vision can affect one's quality of life, independence and mobility, as blind people rely on others for basic tasks. Over 90% of the blinds in Nigeria are not working and depend on the money they make daily through begging on the roadside, motor parks, markets etc, to survive. Without support, these blind beggars may struggle to improve their quality of life.
Blind individuals in Nigeria are more vulnerable to poverty due to limited opportunities for income generation and economic participation. Job opportunities that accommodate their needs are often scarce, leading to high rates of unemployment and dependency. Access to quality education and learning materials are limited, impacting their personal and professional growth. Simple tasks like cooking and moving around becomes difficult or impossible without assistance or adaptive tools.
All donations to this project will go towards supporting these poor blind beggars, empowering them and their guardians, in order to help them to continue feeding properly and also take good care of themselves. When these people are empowered to have a good source of livelihood, it will surely help to provide sustainable solutions towards their plight.
Supporting these people will help to provide them access to education, vocational training and rehabilitation services, empowering them to develop skills, achieve independence and contribute meaningfully to the society.
