Today - April 6th - is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. And this is exactly what Live and Learn in Kenya International is all about! We take great pride in providing the poorest of poor children in the slums of Nakuru, Kenya with the best possible education, food, water, medical and dental care, social worker support and extra curricular activities.
Kenya Culture Day is very important to us. We initiated this weekly day of teaching the children about having pride in their heritage. Every Friday the children change from their uniforms into tradional Kenyan attire and play the games, do the sports, sing the songs and dance the dances of their Kenyan heritage - and learn about Kenya's history and present day situation - and how they can be a part of bettering their society.
Besides singing and dancing - many different forms of sports are already available to our 460 - 480 program children 6 days a week. A huge playground that is ever-growing - a soccer field - volley ball - balancing and climbing boards - and now we are in the process of raising funds for our Sport Courtyard.
We feel that music, dance and sport are necessary factors for child development. We hope you do too!
We are so grateful to all donors who help us to help these children!
Asante sana - thank you so much.
