Dear friends,
Because of you our kitchen at The Mariposa Center for Girls is officially open! With the funds you donated we were able to purchase a brand new stove, refrigerator, freezer, cabinets and shelving! We also had a student group from Miss Edgar's and Miss Cramp's school in Quebec, Canada bring down dishes, silverware, small appliances, serving utensils and more.
The kitchen is one of the most important spaces on our property. With programs running six days a week for more than 100 girls, we are serving more than 700 healthy meals and snacks out of our kitchen every single week! The girls have also been working extremely hard on our onsite permaculture garden and very much enjoy preparing the fresh fruits and vegetables they grew themselves.
This Spring the Mariposa girls will also open the "snack shack", selling homemade juice, sandwiches and treats made right here on site in our kitchen. This special project will allow them to start and build a business from the ground up and develop important entreprenurial skills.
We are thrilled to have our kitchen open and fully running and could have never done this without your help. We are so grateful for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
The girls, families, staff and volunteers at The Mariposa DR Foundation
