WOW WOW WOW! What an awesome Camporee, everyone put on their best hats, the skills level has remarkedly increased and great fun was had by all. We had 9Troops from around the province take up the challenge and over 140 children in total. We have various awards for different skills sets ranging from
With trophy’s provided for each category for the first time, as well as an overall trophy for the overall winners (by our own board member Elma who is a carpenter in her other life).
What I love about the work we do, among many things, is that as you watch the YouTube videos I have placed below, you will never know who the orphans are, who are the abused children, who are the children of drug and alcohol parents, which children are so poor they eat only once a day. KTD196 levels the playing field for children.
This program lets children shine, perhaps for the first time. They are awarded for the skills they have learnt, the abilities they display, and the teamwork and team spirit they exhibit. These are the soft skills they have learnt. These children have been able to overcome their insecurities, their fears, their pasts to become what you see today.
They are proud, not arrogant, they are hopeful, and hope filled. They are excited about their futures, they no longer exhibit defeatist or negative attitudes or behaviours, they have a positive way forward. So please don’t think you are just sponsoring a recreational camp, you are building into children memories and dreams for the future. This is a tough competition, it is not mickey mouse, the children have a right to be proud of their achievements. They truly are a new generation, despite their pasts.
Thank you for believing in the children we serve, for having faith in the work we do and the outcomes we achieve. You are instrumental in all that we are achieve.
Thank you so much and God Bless YOU!
Louise
