Thank you for supporting the Kogelberg Biosphere Wildlife Rescue Centre after the severe 1-in-20-year storm that damaged their rehabilitation facilities earlier this year.
The storm brought extreme winds that destroyed two blue crane enclosures, blew away additional release enclosures, and caused further damage to gutters and water tanks. Thankfully, all the animals remained safe and the critical care clinic was unharmed.
Through this GlobalGiving microproject we raised $603 of our $1,000 goal. Although we did not reach the full target, the centre received additional support from other funders and local sponsors. Combined with your contributions, this made it possible for them to complete the necessary clean-up and repairs.
We are pleased to report that the repairs have now been completed. The damaged enclosures have all been restored and are once again being used to house recovering wildlife. This has allowed the team to resume normal rehabilitation operations and continue providing safe spaces for injured and orphaned animals in the Kogelberg Biosphere.
Your support played a meaningful part in this recovery. Even though the campaign fell short of its full goal, every donation helped move the repairs forward and contributed to getting the enclosures operational again.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave to this project. Thank you for standing with our partner and for caring about Western Cape wildlife.
