This project will provide the preliminary funding needed to install a living fence to keep our more than 90 students safe in Perquin, Northern Morazan, El Salvador.
Amun Shea School is located in a rural region of El Salvador where land and resource disputes are common. These disputes disrupt students' learning and staff efficiency while also threatening our students' safety.
To avoid the potential disruptiveness of a land dispute, this project will begin the installation of a living fence to clearly demarcate the premises of the school campus as ascribed by the land deed. A living fence is a cost-effective solution that will require less maintenance compared to other alternatives.
Rural education adjusted to a COVID-19 reality that is focused on solving socioeconomic obstacles while also attending to students' nutritional needs will not only open doors for our 90+ students and their families at Amun Shea but for all students in rural El Salvador as our school's model serves as a revolutionary prototype. Amun Shea students will become innovative thinkers and powerful agents of change who will be responsible for long-term, positive improvements in community development.
