This project will: - provide 200 refugee children from one to five years old- who fled conflict zones, poverty, or other life-threatening conditions - with a safe space and specialized & supervised care, ensuring their psychological well-being. - assist 155 refugee mothers - who usually are the main caregiver - to have private time and space to access the IRIDA protection and legal resources to enhance their personal healing and emotional well-being, and balance their role as mothers.
Of the 155 IRIDA members who have children from 1 to 5 years, 90% of them do not have access to childcare support, struggling to be the only caregivers without private time & space to access resources to support their socio-emotional wellbeing. Furthermore, displaced children - who fled conflicts & poverty - often suffer from deep trauma and toxic stress and need a safe space designed to their needs. The project will affect 200 refugee children and their mothers to be safe & heal their traumas
The IRIDA Child-Safe Space will provide 200 children with access to indirect psycho-social support via playing activities & free playing, recreational activities, child yoga, & relaxation techniques. Children will receive qualified support to feel safe & empowered, gain skills to face challenges and risks in life, socialize, make friends, and develop fundamental social skills. Refugee mothers will access a trusting mechanism of childcare, receiving help & support which otherwise would not
The project will protect, empower, and support 200 displaced children who fled conflict and poverty to process their traumas, socialize, gain skills, grow into compassionate teenagers and adults who give back to their community. Additionally, 155 refugee mothers, including 70 single moms, have the opportunity to access the IRIDA services and gain tools & resources to strengthen their integration and transfer their experiences to their children, enhancing their children's integration.
