This fourth cohort of Jenzera's Interethnic School for Conflict Resolution will focus on the peace agreement between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The school will work with Afro-Colombian, indigenous and peasant leaders, who represent some of the most vulnerable people, and will support their efforts to play a leading role during the implementation of the peace agreements in their communities.
The current peace agreement between the Government and the FARC opens opportunities, but also challenges to these communities. The School will study post-conflict issues and help community leaders position themselves as political actors able to influence post conflict investment programs in their region.
Ethnic minorities have historically suffered the worst abuses from the country's 50-year armed conflict. The current peace agreement between opens opportunities, but also challenges to these communities. The School will study post-conflict issues and help communities position themselves as political actors able to influence post conflict programs.
The realization of the peace agreement will depend on Colombians as a whole coming together to build a more just, equitable and supportive country. This can only be done if the conditions that have maintained inequality in Colombia are changed. Jenzera's emphasis on building inter-ethnic relations between organizations and peoples strengthens communities and their projects, and contributes to the goal of constructing a more democratic and peaceful society.
