The Mariposa Center for Girls is a beautiful space for the girls of our community to come and learn valuable skills that will set them off on the right path to become active leaders for social change. Our facility contains space for educational, enrichment, and job training programs, but currently does not have doors on the majority of the rooms. The organization is looking for funding to install doors on each classroom to secure the space.
The land the Mariposa Center for Girls lies on had been abandoned for two years previous to the purchase and has required a lot of love and hard work to get up and running. Now that we've officially moved into the space we're looking to expand our current programming options to include a variety of academic, enrichment, and job training programs. However, because we do not have doors on the rooms yet we are unable to store any materials safely and cannot begin to expand.
Funds raised will be used to purchase secure doors and locks for each classroom space. These rooms will be used to provide beneficial academic, life, and job training skills to the more than 70 adolescent girls and their families that participate in Mariposa programs in our community.
The support the girls receive at the Mariposa Center for Girls will provide them with the skills necessary to graduate from high school and obtain jobs both within and outside the Cabarete community. This will assist in sparking social change within the community and helping to end generational poverty.
