Summary

Given the end of our 6 weeks-long Eco-Club program, we are going to celebrate our students in an award ceremony. Families, teachers, and the DAKTARI Team will gather to share their environmental work and knowledge, in addition to receiving a certificate for their participation. The ones who showed the most commitment and were the biggest role models will be rewarded for their great effort. With this project we aim to finance all 7 ceremonies of this year to celebrate our 140 students.

Challenge

With the celebration of the ceremonies, students are eager to gain understanding so they are able to share their learnings with the rest of the school, teachers, and families. Moreover, as the most committed students will be rewarded at the ceremony, they thrive to implement the lessons learned and to put into practice their acquired knowledge. Students find the celebration of the ceremony as a source of motivation and inspiration to take action towards saving the environment.

Solution

During the year 2024 we will hold 7 ceremonies to celebrate our 140 Eco-Club students from the Nareng, Mahlamele, and Lepono high schools. During these ceremonies we will reward the efforts of the students for joining this after-school voluntary program, and for showing interest in environmental issues and how to solve them. By achieving this fundraising goal, we will be able to host all year-long ceremonies, and to make the kids remember that even the smallest actions can make a difference.

Long-Term Impact

Eco-Club is designed to inspire a change in the future generations, thus, the bigger the impact DAKTARI makes in their students, the more the students are encouraged to take care of South Africa and our planet. These children have the power to lead their families and members of their community to take the small but necessary steps towards environmental change and conservation. Littering and poaching is still a everyday problem in the area, so creating awareness about it is key to our mission.
