Because of your donations, three battered mothers and their children celebrated the holidays in three different towns in the USA! This project funded just one week before Christmas so we had to scramble, but it was worth it!
Each family received groceries including a small turkey, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and an apple pie. Plus a small Christmas tree with lights and three gifts for each child and a gift for mom. Volunteers in each town took the goodies to the families.
Here is what one of our volunteers told us: "I wished you could have been there. Everyone was crying. But tears of joy, not of pain. I just can't tell you how happy they were. I want to do this again next year!"
One of the moms said this in an email: "I was stunned when I answered the door. I know you said a volunteer was coming to help me with some paperwork, but oh my gosh, what an amazing surprise. The kids were with my sister. When they came home they were jumping up and down and shouting. I can' remember the last time they were this happy."
