Dear project supporters
Here's an update on the camp you helped support:
129 kids and youths from Freetown, Bo, Blama, Kenema, and Kono attended the youth camp in Kono, Sierra Leone, including 14 kids from Develop Africa's Dream Home orphanage. The camp ran from the 17th of August 2017 for 5 days.
The Dream Home kids made a lot of friends. This was evident by the series of phone calls received and made by the kids in the days following the camp.
The campers were taught how to make / give presentations. They learned art and craft. They were taught how to make bags from thread and also necklaces from beads.
With the many challenges confronting young people, active discussions took place where the youths discussed the different angles on each topic. The youths were well equipped on how to handle these challenges.
The youths were taught on how to make hand bands, key holders and bags with beads. During the Africana night, they showcased their talent in dancing, singing, storytelling, proverbs in their different Ethnic groups. Every day they were engaged in exercise and fitness activities. The schedule also included game time in the afternoon.
They were also taught how to dance traditional dances. They also learned how to go on a date on Social Night.
We deeply appreciate YOUR support that helped make this camp and experience possible. It was a wonderful and never-to-be-forgotten event.
With appreciation
The Develop Africa Team
