It's November 1. With your gifts, we have been 30 days without running out of water! In spite of the rains, we had been out of running water every few days. Mostly because the pumps, tanks, and pipes keep breaking. Once the dry season arrives we will run out of water if we water the gardens. With your gifts and matching funds that they generated through our partners at GlobalGiving.org, we reached our goal of $10,000.
So far, we have replaced the underground "SMURF" pumps in both existing wells, replaced the cut-off floaters for both wells so we do not have to watch the pump all day long. replaced the switches and cut-outs for the primary well. In between, we repaired broken pipes and re-routed the water flow so we can find the shut-off when there is a leak.
We went back and repaired and re-installed the rain tanks so we were prepared when the town water pumps went down for several weeks.
The balance is safely in the bank, waiting for the well drillers to reach us in their queue and determine where we can add a third well to ensure we can water our crops as well as keep the children healthy and clean.
Thank you for your vital gift!
