This micro project will train more 50 mothers in appropriate feeding mechanisms in order to feed their children with Glow, Grow and Go foods. Last year,Globalgiving donors like you gave towards training of 50 mothers training in Mpigi community.According to last years baseline survey, 58% of the households said they were un able to feed their children on a balanced diet. On the whole care givers will be able to practice good infant feeding practices including breast feeding.
In Muyira community in Uganda, there is no appropriate feeding practice for children 0-59 months, there is little food production and income to enable households to provide required nutrition components to the children to enable them to have immunity to fight diseases and also minimize nutrition related illnesses. Over 200 Mothers / care takers have never been trained in appropriate feeding mechanisms in order to feed their children.
50 Mothers / care takers to begin with will be trained in appropriate feeding mechanisms in order to feed their children. The project will also provide food to be used in training especially in local "ekitoobero"(steamed nutritious children meals preparation). This diet will comprise mainly of silver fish, ground nuts, vegetables, bananas, etc.
The project will contribute to ensuring that children enjoy good health, the community is aware of the best feeding practices and children have access to education
