When Violet was pregnant she agreed to go to Mexico with her husband on vacation. He told her they would only stay two weeks. Once they got to Mexico her husband took her American passport and would not let her out of his parents' home. Violet gave birth to Mateo in Mexico. The abuse is getting worse and worse. Violet managed to contact us and we are in need of funds to get her a hotel room for one night, bus tickets home to the USA, and money for food, diapers and basic essentials.
Violet will be able to flee back to the USA for safety with Mateo and stop the abuse. The sooner Violet can get Mateo back home, the less impacted he will be by the violence. American women like Violet often go to a foreign country with their spouses thinking they are going on vacation. When they get to the foreign country their passports are taken, they are locked into the husband's family home, they don't speak the language and are subjected to horrible abuse.
By providing a hotel for one night, bus tickets and food for basic needs such as diapers and food, Violet will be able to safely get Mateo back home, hopefully in time for Christmas.
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
