Lordina is 6 years old and a sweet and kind girl. Going to school is a life-changing event in her life. Lordina's mother only has a small monthly income to support the whole family, which does not allow Lordina to stay in school. She has been missing classes several times and her mother is struggling to provide for the family. Going to school will help Lordina learn to read and write, and secure a better future.
In the rural town of Gbawe, Ghana, there is only one free public school and it is extremely over-crowded with up to 65 students per class. High illiteracy and unemployment prevent many families from being able to afford other schools that charge fees and many children dropout to work. The literacy rate in Ghana is just 71.5% and huge gaps remain between literate men and women. Extreme poverty, illiteracy, and a lack of proper education trap many families in a cycle of deprivation.
Lordina will receive an excellent education at the good quality school in the area. At age 6, Lordina will learn to read, write and learn Math and Science to have a better start in life, her dream is to become a doctor. Lordina needs your help with school fees, uniform, books and health insurance so that she can have a great education and a bright future as a doctor.
The project strives to provide quality education for the children in needs, to improve their health and social conditions, attitude changes and increased self-esteem, an increased sense of belonging within the communities.
