This project will help develop the next generation of Gbeah's Town age farmers by training 10 farmers on sustainable development in District 2, Gbeah's Town. The strategy will be based on traditional Gbeah's Town values and leadership principles and for group facilitation, advocacy, organizational leadership, and community mobilization. They will then be organized to initiate a sustainable model they are passionate about in their town.
Gbeah's Town, 200 population farmers, grow ginger and pineapple to sustain their families. The bad road networks, poor farming and marketing, farmer's agricultural products get spoiled. At the end, farmers can't raise the revenue needed to support their family, not to speak of early learning for their kids. This push them to send their children to live with families or relatives in cities to school. Unfortunately, many of these children are used as street vendors, prostitutes and bread winners.
Mobilize and create awareness on the values of corporate farming, early learning and child right. Train village leadership to reform policy, with emphasis on the right to education. Identify targeted farmers, form a farming co-operative, train farmers and create market, train volunteer teachers in government school in the community, supply primary school materials, provide workshop on child rights for farmer, set a monitoring committee and leadership structure manage by local leadership.
In the long term, I hope to see over 100 farmers benefiting from the program, we want to see the farmers union more organize in the region. Farmers increase quality production for market, increase farmers income. The awareness on child be wildly spread, about 200 children should have access to quality education in the region. We hope to also see other Districts in the county adopting our strategy
