Challenge

AIL has been providing education classes to an orphanage for the last 10 years.. The classes provided include, computing and English as well as life and social skills. Two job-related skills are taught which are gardening for the boys and tailoring for the girls. The classes help the orphans excel at school and keep up with their peer group and when they age out of the orphanage, they have a income generating skill.

Solution

This funding will enable AIL to continue providing services at the orphanage in Herat. T The education classes will continue for the 200 children who live at the orphanage.

Long-Term Impact

The orphanage relies on AIL's services to ensure the children are healthy and well educated. Without this care, these children will fall behind in their education and be disadvantaged as adults. Good health means children can study, good education means they can go on to higher education or find jobs as equals of those who have families.
