This project will provide a business for Felicita and 02 other young women who are victims of the March 18th, 2023 flash floods in Buea Town, a community in the Buea Sub-Division, SouthWest Region-Cameroon, providing a source of income to rent a house, afford their daily food and hygienic needs, school materials to return to school and counseling to increase their economic growth, dignity, and freedom from abuse.
There are currently more than 1,106 persons who are bearing casualties of the flash floods in Buea. According to the office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees-Buea, women and girls are the most affected (51%) and are more vulnerable to abuse, poor living conditions, poverty, food insecurity and loss of livelihoods. This project will help Felicita and 02 other women whose small businesses and other items were swept away by the flood, to earn income, and afford their basic needs.
Reach Out NGO supports vulnerable women with businesses and other services to help them attain independence, and freedom from abuse. Social workers of Reach Out will train Felicita and 02 other women on business management; bookkeeping, savings and expansion. This will be followed by a grant of 200$ to start a business, and 50$ of one month house rent or daily subistence allowance for the first 02 weeks of starting business. This will help them afford their needs, contribute to development.
This project will help Felicita and 02 other women who are victims of the Buea Flash Floods start their businesses with a grant of about 200 dollars each. They will each raise an average of 65 dollars monthly and take care of their families, with reduced stress levels. These women will make better decisions, lead better lives and become less dependent on men. Felicita and the other 02 women will eventually become role models and help develop their community:
