Violence against women and children is a big problem in Afghanistan. Women have rights that must be respected and no human being should experience violence anywhere, any time. Children need to grow up in a violence-free household to grow peace for the future. AIL provides education on women's and children's rights, family dynamics, good behavior good citizenship and peace. People learn there is another way to live, to resolve differences and that family harmony is achievable without violence.
Violence is deeply rooted in many poorer families and this behavior is learned from one generation to the next. Covid-19 has made the situation worse. There has been a rise in violence, female suicide and girls running away from home. People need education about women's and children's rights and peace. They need counseling about family dynamics, household management, personal relationships and how to resolve disputes without violence.
AIL has a long history of providing quality education and training. We will provide workshops on violence against women, children's and women's rights and peace to hundreds of families. We also incorporate this information into all our Learning Center classes, workshops and at health clinics, reaching as many people as possible. Education is what builds a peaceful society and a new attitude and state of mind in people.
Hundreds of families will gain understanding of human rights and peace and will gain skills in how to live harmoniously. Generations of children will grow up in more peaceful family situations and will not witness violence against women nor go on to repeat that behavior as adults. Women will be respected and their contribution valued. Afghanistan will rebuild and recover its historic tradition of a peaceful society founded on peace and respect for all human rights.
