Children  Haiti Project #32530

Help Children in Haiti Stay Clean, Dry and Healthy

A microproject by Jake's Diapers, Inc.

All babies deserve to be clean, dry, and healthy. This project will provide disposable diapers to a remote Intensive Care Unit in Haiti. By having adequate diapers, this resource-constrained ICU will be able to increase basic sanitation and hygiene, as well as minimize the spread of fecally transmitted communicable disease.

There are on average 20 children in the intensive care unit. These children are at high risk of death, and are severely ill. Most commonly they have diarrhea, worms, and suffer from malnutrition.

By actually having a supply of diapers, feces can be contained. This will increase sanitation and hygiene, as well as overall quality of life for both caregiver and child.

Long-Term Impact

As our partner organizations in Haiti continue to have their diaper needs solved, they are able to save funds and plan for future improvements in their care. This can mean adding educational programs, offering better healthcare, improved quality of food (more protein!) - all steps that set these babies up for long term survival and productive members of society.
