This project will provide quality education for Asmau in Amarzakaya, Ungogo Local Council, Kano. She is the first child from a family of five who lost her father when she was fourteen years old; Her education came to a stop after two years when her mother could not provide for the family as a result of partial stroke; ever since she has been supporting her mother selling prepared food in the village so that her younger ones could continue attending school and raise enough to complete her school
The number of children who are not in school in Nigeria specifically in the Northern part still remains high. According to UNICEF, there are currently over 3 million children out of school as a result of poverty, insurgency and inequalities. Amarzakaya is a community that has a high number of children out of school who cannot afford quality education but forced to drop out to help provide for themselves and their family. Without education, they will be subject to extreme poverty and other vices
This project will provide Asmau with the basic need of education so that she can succeed in life; one of the children we identified in Amarzakaya with most need. She will get a chance to complete her secondary school education and pursue a promising career in catering. She will also receive after school mentoring and tutoring to build back her confidence level. In addition to education she may also receive assistance for basic supplies and tools that will start her up on the catering venture
The project will help Asmau complete her education within eighteen months. She who would have likely grown up illiterate, married off and stuck in extreme poverty will now have a chance to rise up and improve the quality of her life and her family. It will also help in developing the economic growth of the community and by extension the local council as through Asmau, more girls will be encouraged to be like her thus making them rise out of poverty.
