This project will provide a year of English Education for Alex. Alex is 32 and is in the advanced class at EIM. He wants to become a teacher so that he can support his family, but for a well paying teaching job he needs to speak English! Alex loves his classes and is especially happy with the quality of his teachers. "The level English taught at the school will permit me to work as a good teacher!" You can help Alex find a teaching job by donating today to fund his English education.

More than two thirds of Haitian adults lack formal employment and more than 50% of the population lives on less than $1.25 a day. Despite high unemployment, there is actually a shortage of skilled labour in Port au Prince. English speakers can find work in hotels, restaurants, and offices, yet there are virtually no free English schools. Most Haitians, including Alex, cannot afford to attend fee-paying schools. Without the means to develop their skills, many are left trapped in poverty.

By ensuring that Alex can continue studying English for free at the English in Mind Institute, you can help him develop the skills he needs to work as a teacher. With employment comes self-reliance and a new life.

Long-Term Impact

Your donations will give Alex the means to support himself and his family into the future. This will let him escape poverty for good.
