Meet Le Thanh Duc. Mr. Duc, a war veteran, has three daughters affected by Agent Orange. His wife fell into depression after their youngest, healthy son passed away during an accident. Now, Mr. Duc is a full-time caretaker to not only his daughters, but his wife as well. You can help the Advocacy Project and the Association for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities support this caring father by purchasing a freezer, glass cabinet and materials for him to build a grocery shop at home.
During the Vietnam War, over 19 million tons of pesticides including Agent Orange was sprayed over the country. Those exposed suffer from many health conditions. Mr. Duc's three daughters were born healthy, but they each became disabled at age 10 when strange symptoms appeared. His youngest son passed away at age 18 in an accident. His wife, Mrs. Hong, has fallen ill as well. She is extremely distraught and spends her day wandering the streets.
With four people requiring constant 24/7 care, Mr. Duc needs a job that will allow him to work from home. In the past, he's been successful at making fish sauce to sell locally. But the recent fish death caused by the release of contaminated water into the sea has made it impossible for him continue. Opening a grocery store at home is the family's one chance to create a stable income source and help this caring dad earn a living.
