With the start of Summer, more and more people are encouraged to get outside and enjoy the long days and healthy sunshine. We want to capitalize on the most active time of the year by providing opportunities for movement and learning. This summer our interns have organized a Farmers Market and Nutrition Demo with People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), a Prenatal Yoga Class, and a Health Fair featuring free fitness classes and educational activities!
The biggest barriers to healthy living are access and education. By reaching out to our community to provide free fitness classes and educational events, we are breaking down barriers in support of a healthier lifestyle. Our goal this summer is to teach better eating habits, good prenatal care, and to get people interested in exercise.
July 15th Heal One World is holding a free prenatal yoga and informational class for expecting mothers. July 18th, we will be joining with PATH to go to a Farmers Market and learn a healthy recipe. July 30th, we will be holding a free Health Fair for our community to take Zumba, Yoga, and learn about better eating habits. As always, Heal One World has 2 free Yoga classes a day along with Bootcamp, Meditation, and a new offering: Tension Release Exercises.
About 19% population in Los Angeles can get benefits from our program and live a more healthy and happy life, which will decrease individual healthcare spending, change the health condition among low-income families and make those people reached more productive to the society. Lowering healthcare costs from long term disease and obesity. Being healthy effects the mind set of individuals as well and there shows a decrease in violence and crime when people are free of pain and able to contribute.
