Dear donors,

In the past 6 months the area of Muyuka, where Father’s House orphanage is found, has transformed into a conflict zone in the midst of the Anglophone crisis. In case you don’t know what that is, check this article. If you want to do something about it, we have another project to support the increasing numbers of displaced persons in the Region.

As you can imagine, this has critically complicated activities in the house. At times, the children have had to run away and stay in Mom Commy’s family house, which is far away from the main road. However, there is still hope. In the past 3 months, the children managed to complete their school years successfully, those who had government examinations passed with good marks.

Father’s house has experienced a drop in their food supply during this period. Sometimes, they find it difficult to get to the main market to purchase food items, when the conflict is at its peak. Moreover, the level of donations from well-wishers has dropped almost to 0, as a result of the fact that people are afraid to travel to such an environment. It is only the farm that you are helping set up that has provided a reliable income every month.

Rather than just sitting and waiting they decided to work hard and to invest more in palm oil. 510 liters of palm oil were bought and stored with the business grant that you provided. In the next few months, it will be sold for a great profit, after the rainy season has passed. They decided to go for this one-time business because of the rising prices of palm oil, and because in the current violent environment expanding the farm was not advisable. The decision will be revised after selling this stock. It is becoming difficult to find palm oil with the current crisis.

With the business grant, the house has also started a small piggery to diversify their income.

Thank you for your donations and for giving them ways to survive and have a better tomorrow,

Message from Mom Commy:

“We really want to thank God for bringing you guys to Africa and to Cameroon. For bringing you the wisdom and the heart to help people. You’ll live long, so long that death will seem to not come! The way things have changed since we got in contact with Reach Out… even in this situation. We thank God. I want to say thank you so much. You have given me wisdom, knowledge and the physical support, to help this Father’s House orphanage. I hope God will give you the strength to help many more people.”

On behalf of the team at Reach Out, thank you for being you. You don’t know how much each one of your donations means to us, how much each one of you has helped us put together something meaningful to support this house and make it a bit better, even with all the horrors outside.
