This project will provide a year of safe housing for Nolson. Nolson's dad died in the 2010 earthquake, leaving his mom to look after ten children. She couldn't provide for them, so she abandoned Nolson and two of his brothers at the HTDC orphanage. Despite this, Nolson is one of the most loving children at the orphanage. He loves to sing and dance and play football. But without the orphanage to keep him safe, Nolson would be forced to fend for himself as a street-kid.
As an orphan, Nolson is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for his basic needs. This means that, without your help, Nolson would be a homeless street-kid, leaving him vulnerable to exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
By donating today, you'll help us provide the home Nolson needs to stay safe and to grow up with a fighting chance. You'll also help us provide caregivers to look after Nolson and ensure he has access to water and electricity. Note that the orphanage is home to around thirty children. Donations to this project will cover Nolson's share of the costs over a year, but will be spent on all the children in parallel as we fundraise for each in turn.
A safe home and care are essential for every child. By providing these for Nolson, you're giving him the foundations he needs to build a bright future.
