This project will provide a year of safe housing for ten year old Florentina. Florentina was brought to the HTDC orphanage by her sixteen year old aunt after her parents abandoned her. She's one of the most exuberant, out-going kids at the orphanage. She loves school - especially when her class sings! But without the orphanage to keep her safe, Florentina would be forced to fend for herself on the streets.
As an orphan, Florentina is among the most vulnerable of Haitian children. There isn't an effective nationwide child protection service operating in Haiti to provide for her basic needs. This means that, without your help, Florentina would be a homeless street-kid, leaving her vulnerable to exploitation and destined to a life of suffering and poverty.
