Sadly, our meerkats cannot be released as they are not native to this area. Often kept as pets after being illegally imported from Namibia, meerkats get abandoned by their owners if they start to bite. DAKTARI gladly takes them in and gives them a home at our camp.
The family of meerkats requires feeding twice a day, occasional medical care, and often enrichment to keep them active and happy in their enclosure. We play with the meerkats daily and offer them opportunities to use their cleverness to find food in their enclosure. Your support will make sure they stay happy and healthy!
A positive and clean environment with healthy and cared-for animals serves to push our impact on the children, and consequently on the community. Likewise, through the education of the future generations of the area, we aim to make a lasting impact on the local wildlife.
