The first six weeks after birth are the most critical. You can help save lives by giving a new mother the essential things like a bassinet, cloth diapers, blankets, a container for clean water, and soap. Your gift also provides regular visits from our midwife and social services. Our tuk-tuks are also available to take our women and babies to medical facilities (ambulance services are very limited in Cambodia).
Savannah just turned 15 last month. When she realised she was pregnant, she told her boyfriend, but he left soon after. She told her parents. They got angry and threw her out of the family home. Alone, scared, she was referred to us by a partner organisation. We supported her through pregnancy and delivery. This time is critical for mother and baby, and mothers' health represents children's best chance of survival. Our priority is to keep our solo-parent and their newborns healthy and strong.
You will provide a kit containing all necessary items to keep 40 mothers and newborns healthy. It includes everything needed the first 3 months. It will be completed by regular visits from our midwife, social workers and parental training. The basket includes: - Clean water Kit - Baby Mattress with 2 pillows and linen - Plastic Bath Tub for baby - Baby hygiene products - Baby Clothes - Child carrier - Washable nappies kit - Post partum kit (hygiene, clothes, etc.)
Babies will be able to physically and mentally develop on track during their early months of life as they can receive needed nutrition and medical care before and after birth. Mothers will be self-sufficient and self-sustaining for the rest of their lives from counseling, life skills, and job training/placement they received.
