This microproject will change the way children whose parents who are deployed or are serving in war zones feel about coming to school each day. Making music a part of learning will lift military children who are worried and missing their dads or moms- and sometimes both- out of their daily concerns by engaging them in learning through songs and playing instruments- a part of education that is sorely missing is many Title 1 public schools. We will supply training, materials & musical instruments!
Many schools serving children of the military do not have music programs, especially not for children in grades K-3. But making music at school makes an emotional, social and academic difference for children whose parents who are deployed or are serving in war zones. By funding this microproject, your dollars will empower us to equip and train their regular classroom teachers to teach academic lessons that include songs, singing and writing educational songs that engage the kids in learning.
By helping GITC bring music instruction and training to schools serving military kids, we can help these students rise above challenges, overcome and succeed. Singing and learning to play guitar or ukulele together helps them relax, connect with others and learn to express themselves in a creative and positive ways. The music itself lifts their spirits. When their stress is lowered, concentration and learning become possible and they worry less about things beyond their control.
This work instills life-long love of learning & success and music! It imparts a permanent solution because teachers train and keep playing for years at school. All children are reached, including those in Title 1 and public school classrooms- GITC creates precious musical opportunities for everyone. This approach makes classrooms happier places, enables students to bring up their grades and test scores, schools get stronger, and teachers acquire an inspiring new way to do their best!
