By Roxana Aguilar | Vocational Training and Transition Coordinator
Your generous support helps train young people and increases their eligibility for employment. During the last three months participants have received vocational training and employment support. You uplifted a young person who is now trained and employed!
Cesar is one of these young adults who have greatly benefited from your generous donations! Cesar participated in the LA Conservation Corps job training program for three years during which he received his high school diploma and gained work experience in graffiti removal and street maintenance. At the end of the program he was faced with the reality of transitioning to a new job and/or college. For seven weeks, he focused his energy on self development and professional grooming. With the support of Transition staff he updated his resume, filled out online applications, applied to college, and expanded his professional network. He also learned to improve his interviewing and public speaking skills which were initially a challenge.
Cesar is happy to report he is now employed by the Hollywood Beautification Team where he earns a living wage! Cesar is making an impact in the City of Los Angeles by removing graffiti with the upmost care in Hollywood neighborhoods. Cesar is very interested in becoming a computer programmer. He is enrolled at East LA Community College and will start classes in Spring 2014. He is closer to reaching his education goals thanks to your generous donations!
We are gearing up for our next transition group starting October 28, 2013. Participants will receive employment and college counseling. They are also eligible for a job shadowing internship in their chosen career field. If you, or someone you know, is interested in hosting an intern from the LA Conservation Corps please contact Roxana Aguilar, raguilar@lacorps.org
Thank you for your continued support!
