By Riya | Rescue Project Director
Dear Supporter,
Hello Ëveryone!
This is Riya the Director of Rescue Junction here in Gaya.
Although we did not reach the target figure for this appeal we had a similar campaign before, and we combined the two amounts to enable us to do some helpful work in line with the project appeal.
So how did we use your money?
Well, we could appoint staff to setup even closer liaison between the centre and law enforcement agencies and we were able to arrange more effective links to identify children at risk, or in the process of being trafficked.
We could add additional resources to a major campaign which busted open a major child trafficking ring and the rescue of 160 child labourers.
We could spend more money on the proper and careful rehabilitation of these children providing clothes and books and supplies for admission into local schools.
This is what the chief minister said recently in Patna,
"The government has been sensitive on such issues. Though the government agencies and concerned departments are dealing with the issues but such social ills cannot be dealt with laws alone,” he said. “There is a need to start a serious campaign to sensitise people about such issues and their ill effects,” he said while terming human trafficking as “heinous crime”. Kumar praised people and NGOs which are working to eradicate social evils and asked NGOs to take it to the logical conclusion”.
Our campaign continues, both to educate the public and rescue and rehabilitate children into mainstream education. Please follow our work on Facebook and on our website and please kindly look at our Rescue Junction appeal on GlobalGiving .
With your much-appreciated support we can really change things for the better and help more children have the childhood they deserve.
Riya
