A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Flores on August 15, followed by more than 2,100 aftershocks. Over 40,000 people are displaced and nearly 12,000 homes damaged, leaving remote communities without safe shelter, clean water or cooking facilities. Bumi Sehat is working with local community partners to deliver tarps, tents, water, cooking pots and emergency food packages to families who have received little or no aid.
More than 40,000 people have been displaced by the Flores earthquake, with nearly 12,000 homes damaged. Remote Indigenous communities in Manggarai, East Manggarai and Sikka are among the hardest hit, yet many have received little or no assistance. Families urgently need safe shelter, clean drinking water, cooking & hygiene facilities and food.
Bumi Sehat is working through trusted local community partners to reach families in remote areas that are difficult for government and larger aid agencies to access. Donations will provide tarps and tents for shelter, safe water, cooking pots and emergency family food packages, helping families meet their most immediate needs while they begin to recover.
Emergency support will help families survive the immediate aftermath while creating a foundation for recovery. By working through Indigenous and local community networks, Bumi Sehat can help ensure remote communities are not forgotten. Restoring access to food, water and basic shelter will help families protect their health, regain stability and begin rebuilding their homes and livelihoods.
