Thank You for Helping the Flood Victims!

By Nusrat Mahmud Ananna | Project Contributor

Despite rain being a blessing, climate change has impacted thousands, resulting in the most devastating flood in Sunamganj and Sylhet's history. More than 72% of Sylhet was underwater, and the people were under utmost suffering. Bangladesh Army, Airforce and Navy were sent to evacuate households cut off from neighbouring communities.

The dreadful flood in Bangladesh started on 17 May 2022, affecting the Sylhet and Sunamganj districts of the Sylhet division. Later on 17 June, it assumed a more devastating magnitude and affected additional districts in Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions. A total of 14 districts (Sylhet, Sunamganj, Hobigonj, Moulvibazar, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Rangpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur and Gaibandha have been affected either fully or partially.

With your support, JAAGO Foundation supported thousands of families affected by the recent flash flood in Sylhet, Kurigram, Sherpur and other districts of the country. With our volunteer's help, we have provided food, eid gifts along with the necessary items in Kurigram.

Our volunteers from the Jhenaidah district went to the Dharmapasha area of Sunamganj and distributed food relief packages along with water. Volunteers from Kushtia and Gazipur districts further assisted them. In addition to providing clean drinking water and food, JAAGO will begin working on the post-flood situation very soon. So far, 3000 families got support during the flood crisis. Our volunteers are now working on the post-flood situation.

We are grateful to all of you for hurriedly responding to the distress. With your assistance, JAAGO Foundation was able to support the recent flood victims in several areas of Bangladesh.
