Or you're a single mom struggling to provide for your family sewing for others, but you no longer see well enough and lose your business. We can solve those problems with your help by bringing an eyeglass clinic to the community of Oyugis Kenya with eye examinations and thousands of donated prescription eyeglasses to distribute. Over 50% of the population in Kenya lives in poverty. Most families live on $1 a day or less struggling to supply just the basics for survival - food and shelter! Getting treatment for changing eyesight, no matter how bad, is a luxury the population does without. Eye sight changes affect both young and old & has major impacts on lives and families. Students stop learning, wage earners can no longer work. This project provides exams & eyeglasses at no cost and helps turn lives around.
Our Team will offer no-cost eye exams to the community and match up the person with the correct prescription indicated through the exam. We will bring a few thousand pairs of eyeglasses to distribute. With this number of glasses, chances are we will have the correct prescriptions needed in our supply. This project brings an opportunity to the community to correct their vision with a pair of eyeglasses they would otherwise do without. To be able to see again will change lives!
This project will offer new hope to those whose lives have been changed because their eyesight has diminished enough where they require eyeglasses - which they can't afford - to succeed as students in school, or an adult whose eyesight is required to do their job. Students will thrive in their studies and grow to be productive, contributing adults in the community. Adults will be able to continue working to provide for families. Both situations improve quality of life in the community for all.
