Cats are not beings that are used to stay between 4 walls. The initial cat house was designed with 1.5x3m rooms, to hold around 3 cats. In time we realised that cats, especially young ones, need more entertainment. Also, not having a designated space for quarantine, made it hard to keep the young ones sheltered from diseases, before they had their vaccines done. The improvements to the cat house will give the cats more space to play and be safe before vaccination is completed.
This project will give the cats that end up in our care ( due to being abandoned or because they were born on the streets ), shelter, treatments and the opportunity to get adopted.
The extended cat house will give the cats in our care more space to play and will make it easier for us to invite people to socialise with them. The quarantine will allow us to keep kittens safe until they are vaccinated, increasing their chances to survive.
Scared animals need space and time to blossom, some need to be alone, others need to be with other dogs/cats, others need to be in a home. Some need to be quarantined for their protection, others need to be quarantined for the protection of others( like cats with FIV/FelV). The impact will be in their lives, more kittens and puppies surviving, and the adults having better conditions to live their lives.
