In rural Romania, one vehicle connects children with therapy and educational opportunities, rescued animals with veterinary care, and vulnerable people with essential services. Our ageing Opel Combo is still running, but rainwater enters the interior, the battery sometimes fails, and rust has affected several doors. We need a safe, reliable replacement to sustain 60-200 animal rescues and approximately 450 sterilizations each year, alongside our work with children and older people.
CHALLENGE In our rural community, limited public transport makes one vehicle essential. Children living 5-10 kilometres away rely on us for transport to therapy and activities, while rescued animals travel 20-70 kilometres for veterinary care. Our ageing Opel Combo is deteriorating: rainwater enters the interior, the battery sometimes fails, and rust affects several doors. If it becomes unavailable, children may miss therapy and animals may not receive treatment in time.
We will purchase a safe, reliable vehicle for therapy transport, animal rescues, veterinary visits, sterilization campaigns and essential community work. The final vehicle will be selected using comparable dealer quotations.
Reliable transport will keep children connected to therapy, animals connected to veterinary care and vulnerable people connected to essential services. It will protect Dumbrava's work across several rural villages for years to come.
