During the public hospital strike, we had three births (Vivian, Elizabeth, and Purity) that were attended at the private Nairobi Women's Hospital.
Each birth at this hospital cost 24,000 Kenyan shillings (approximately $186 USD), this price was a "pack" that cover natural delivery, 24 hours of bed, medicines and medical attention. Any additional care or hospitalization was a separate charge.
Fortunately, of the three women treated during that period of public strikes, all had natural births, without complications and with healthy babies. Only one newborn required five days of hospitalization due to icterus.
- Three births: 72,000 Kenyan shillings ($557 USD).
- One hospitalization: 105,737 Kenyan shillings ($818 USD).
All the women and newborns are in perfect health condition.
