*Srey comes from a family with four children. When Human and Hope Association opened our community centre in 2014, she was one of the first students to register, along with her older brother and sister. Seeing the poverty in her family, she was brought into the scholarship program that enabled her to receive free tuition and study supplies every semester.
Srey started attending weekly art class in 2015, and rarely misses a lesson. Through expressing her creative flair, her confidence has increased and she has made more friends at Human and Hope Association. Her mother, who is our Sustainability Assistant, proudly watches over Srey in weekly art class as she helps other students who are slowly learning to express themselves freely, too.
Our art class is vital for children like Srey who are not encouraged to ‘think outside the box’ in public school. For just $360 a year, we are able to reach 20 – 30 Cambodian children who are now learning to be independent thinkers whilst increasing their confidence.
Thanks to donors like you, we can continue to run these classes and ignite the creativity in the next generation of Cambodian citizens.
