This Mandela Day, your support helps 100 children from Diepsloot in South Africa learn coding logic through a tournament that builds critical thinking and confidence. In a community with few digital opportunities, help us to help children dream of a brighter future.
In Diepsloot, a densely populated township north of Johannesburg, children grow up with little to no access to computers, internet, or digital learning. As a result, they are excluded from the very skills and tools shaping the future. The education system cannot always bridge this gap, leaving many talented children behind. Without access to meaningful tech exposure, these young minds lose out on critical thinking skills, digital literacy, and the confidence to compete in the world of tomorrow.
On Mandela Day, we'll host 100 children at a hands-on coding tournament using Tangible Africa's offline game-based tool, RANGERS. This innovative approach requires no devices or internet, making it perfect for underserved communities. Learners will compete in teams, solve logic puzzles, and develop foundational coding skills while having fun. Donations will help us cover meals, shirts, goodie bags, prizes, and support volunteers - ensuring the experience is enriching, safe, and memorable.
Introducing children to coding logic at an early age helps unlock their potential, builds confidence, and plants seeds for future interest in tech careers. With sustained exposure through events like this, young people in Diepsloot can begin to imagine and pursue opportunities beyond their immediate circumstances. Over time, we are closing the digital divide, creating digitally literate citizens, and breaking cycles of poverty through education and skills that matter in a changing world.
