This microproject will restore access to life-saving TB, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes medicines for 1,915 Congolese patients affected by Ebola-related border restrictions between Uganda and DRC on. Through a KISS movement (Keep It Simple and Safe) border-to-border delivery system, it will prevent treatment interruption, drug resistance, and deaths. It will strengthen follow-up, reduce stigma, and ensure dignified, confidential last-mile delivery while improving cross-border health coordination.
This project addresses treatment interruption for 1,915 Congolese patients with TB, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes caused by Ebola-related border restrictions between Uganda and DRC who get treatment from Arua hospital. Many patients can no longer access Ugandan health facilities for medicines and follow-up care, leading to missed doses, drug resistance, complications, and preventable deaths. It solves the lack of a safe cross-border system for delivering essential medicines during health emergencies.
This microproject will solve the problem by introducing a KISS (Keep It Simple and Safe) border-to-border medicine delivery system that ensures patients continue receiving TB, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes medicines without crossing the Uganda-DRC border. Health facilities will prepare monthly refills, transported to border points and handed to DRC partners for distribution. It ensures continuity of care, patient tracking, stigma reduction, and discreet last-mile delivery where needed.
This project will strengthen resilient cross-border health systems between Uganda and DRC, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential medicines during future Ebola outbreaks and other emergencies. It will reduce drug resistance, prevent avoidable deaths, and improve chronic disease management. The KISS (Keep It Simple and Safe) delivery model can be scaled and replicated, promoting sustainable, dignified, and confidential care. We partner with Association for Development NGO in Ituri DR Congo.
