India's digital journey has been transformative and exemplary. Digital components have accelerated financial inclusion, enabled last mile delivery of vaccines and a payment platform that handles a staggering number of transactions. In the recent years, OBLF has invested deeply in building a digital product portfolio for learners and instructors. We'd like to leverage India's Digital Infrastructure to universalize access to our portfolio, to amplify impact in our area of operation and beyond.
Massive learning deficits have been reported year on year in the state run schools attended by the less fortunate. More than 167 million children (1/2 the population of the USA) in India go to public schools. The Pandemic has disproportionately affected lives, caused severe learning losses especially in public schools and pushed many more children to these schools. It takes a grassroots organization several years to build trust within communities. How then does OBLF amplify impact?
In the past 13 years, OBLF has enabled hundreds of women who never got a chance to complete their formal education to have a respectable livelihood. Empowering women to enter the workforce has caused a ripple effect in the communities we serve. We envision scaling our impact by partnering with other grassroots nonprofits, involving women, hitherto homemakers in comprehensive development of remote rural communities, and embracing the power of Technology to alleviate deficits and touch more lives.
This project will leverage Digital Goods that work at scale to transform 11000 lives. Our learning and training materials overlaid on digital modules will complement classroom learning and alleviate learning deficit. This will reduce dropouts and help children find meaningful employment upon reaching adulthood. This in turn will lift more people up the socio-economic ladder. $50 will help us reach 5 children/year. Any sufficiently advanced Technology is indistinguishable from Magic!
