COVID-19 has faced us with a crude reality –social and economic factors play a huge role in the survival rate. We already knew those factors are critical concerning health, however, the circumstances arising from COVID-19 we have witnessed in the at-social risk community of la Carpio, in San José, Costa Rica, are living proof that poverty and inequity are literally killing people.

We believe education is a holistic process, therefore basic needs should be met for the process to be fruitful. Children need to be well physically and emotionally to learn.

During the Pandemic, we have worked very hard to fulfill the most basic needs of the population we serve. We have provided food, personal hygiene products, cleaning products, mask, emotional aid for the children and their families, clothing, educational material, virtual academic tutoring, virtual ludic and artistic activities, and even aid for the burial of loved ones victims of COVID-19.

All this has been possible thanks to your help. Your help has greatly contributed to the well-being of hundreds of families in the La Carpio Community.

Although this micro project is already retired we will continue our work so that these children and their families be able to better face these difficult times.

We invite you to continue supporting them by contributing to the project A Caring Education for At-risk Kids in Costa Rica, project  #47996.

Once again, thank you for your generosity.
