Helping girls stay in school

By Simon Doble | Founder and Global CEO

Hello,

Thank you for celebrating International Day of the Girl by giving the gift of light. As part of letting you know about the amazing ripple effect and the transformative impact your gifts of light have on girls around the globe, I thought I would also highlight another hugely important element of SolarBuddy’s work they enable - partnerships for girls.

I'd like to share not just the impact on girls in Tanzania, but for all girls living in energy poverty and who need a helping hand to stay in school.

Holistic solutions

At SolarBuddy we believe sharing, collaborating and partnering will mean your gift delivers the biggest impact, so we make a point of inviting and empowering people and aligned organisations to join us. Your gift of light is amplified with this holistic approach!

We have a wonderful partner in So They Can, who also take a holistic approach to improving the quality of education - education, governance and the environment. So They Can achieves so much more when the students in Tanzania and Kenya can study after dusk! Your gift makes it possible!

I think Days For Girls International (DFGI) is an amazing initiative. They give girls more days at school by providing them with washable hygiene products and factual, practical education on women’s health.

We have DFGI partners in Cambodia, Tanzania and Timor-Leste that gift packs alongside your gift of light.

Your gift makes days and nights better for girls!

Transforming lives

A message to you from Saidelys, a girl from the Dominican Republic.

Saidelys

Translation

Here the electrical energy is very weak and the light goes out frequently.... the solar lantern that they gave me has been a great blessing for me, since I can do the assignments that my teacher leaves me as homework, using the light of the solar lamp that they gave me. Without her it would be more difficult for me and my parents. Saidelys

We proudly align all our work to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Partnerships for the Goals (Goal #17), is key to the incredible impact achieved with every dollar you gift. We are so proud to realise a 7 fold social return for every 1 dollar you gift.

I believe collaboration and partnerships are critical to a successful path forward. I am so honoured to be able to call you a partner! Thank you for taking this journey with me and for transforming the lives of girls. I know this is how we will see future generations thrive.

Best wishes
