Dear all,
In the light of the developments regarding COVID-19, we want to say that our thoughts are with you and everybody affected by the virus around the globe. We very much hope that you, your families and friends are all well and safe.
Thank you so very much for supporting 8 year old Kunhao, a boy who has Down syndrome. It is because of your gift to our Abracadabra program that he received much needed educational and developmental tools and toys before the world went into lockdown.
As you may recall Kunhao lives in a poor area in Guizhou province. He had to undergo heart surgery in Huaxin hospital earlier this year. This is where our volunteers from our Playtime program met him. The sweetness of the boy and the love of his parents touched us deeply. He recovered well from the heart surgery, surrounded by his doting family. However, he was not he is was going back to school, as for him attending to school is a challenge in itself.
Education and proper care have been shown to improve quality of life for children with Down syndrome. Your support helps to contribute to his physical and mental development, especially while his school education being interrupted.
After exchanges with the boy's mother, Mirjam (MH China Director) went shopping, and the cart filled quickly: wooden music instruments, Duplo, Play doh, learning puzzles and a drawing board, and a four wheel bike which will be sent to him directly.
Laughter and smiles remain important, especially in these challenging times. His mother sent us some images, and we hope his smile warms your heart and brings you some positive thoughts and distractions.
Thank you for your ongoing support, please continue to stay well and safe, and we hope till soon!
Warmly, Claudia
